Provided is a method for reducing the data size of multiple images containing similar information. This method involves: a step for generating a synthesized image corresponding to a target image on the basis of a first reference image and a second reference image; a step for generating a mask image indicating the potential error of the synthesized image with regard to the target image from the first reference image and the second reference image; a step for generating a residual image corresponding to the difference between the target image and the synthesized image; a step for generating a post-conversion image corresponding to the target image by allocating information of a region corresponding to the residual image to a region having a relatively large potential error on the basis of the mask image; and a step for outputting the first reference image, the second reference image, and the post-conversion image as information expressing the target image, the first reference image, and the second reference image.
