A cylinder drive device provided with: a first passage for communicating a first chamber of a cylinder and a first port of a pump; a second passage for communicating a tank with a second chamber of the cylinder; a third passage for communicating the tank with a second port of the pump; a diaphragm for imparting a resistance to a working fluid flowing through the third passage; and an operated check valve for allowing the flow of working fluid from the pump to the first chamber and allowing the flow of working fluid from the first chamber to the pump in accordance with the fluid pressure of the working fluid in the third passage between the pump and the diaphragm, the operated check valve being provided to the first passage.
