PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an on-vehicle device, its control method, and a mobile object that can prevent interrupting communication with a ground device by checking presence or absence of its fault.SOLUTION: An on-vehicle device 100 comprising a receiving unit for receiving a radio signal transmitted by a ground device comprises a test signal transmission unit for transmitting a test signal, and a control unit 103 for diagnosing the receiving unit on the basis of the test signal received by the receiving unit. The test signal transmission unit starts transmitting the test signal if the ground device is not situated within a prescribed range.
