There is provided a basket assembly (110) for making a basket (112), as well as a blank (148, 149) for making the basket assembly (110). A support sheet (120) is mounted along a bottom wall (122) of a container portion (113, 144) of the basket (112), either inside or outside of the container (113, 114), providing a multi-layered assembly (124). The innermost layer (132) of the support sheet (120) and the container portion (113, 114) define a cut-out portion (130) corresponding to a handle (128, 142) for the basket (112), which is nested in the innermost layer (132) of the multi-layered assembly (124). The handle portion (128) has opposing ends (134, 136) which are mounted to the container (114) and side edges (138, 140) which are separable from the innermost layer (132), allowing to lift the nested handle (142) away from the bottom (122) of the container (114) and to draw it out to provide the basket (112) with a handle (142). The gap (115) appearing in the innermost layer (132) is covered by the outer layer (156) of the multi-layered assembly (124). |
