Shaped polymeric surfaces are coloured by bombarding the surfaces with finely divided abrasive particles suspended in a liquid which contains an organic dye dissolved or dispersed therein. Specified polymers are polyethylene, polypropylene, polyoxymethylene and polyacrylic or polymethacrylic esters.
