Included are a plurality of core portions and a cladding portion positioned around the plurality of core portions. The cladding portion includes a marker for identifying a position of a specific one of the plurality of core portions. Further, the marker is preferably formed so that a specific direction around a periphery of the cladding portion is identifiable. Furthermore, the marker is preferably a hole formed in the cladding portion. Moreover, the marker is preferably made of a material having a refractive index different from that of the cladding portion. Consequently, a multi-core optical fiber that is easily connected is provided. |
