The cap has a ring (9) made of a metallic material with a ring opening and with an insulating body. The body sealingly closes the ring opening. A pivot (3) is electrically insulated from the ring and is sealed by the insulating body and forms an electric conductor. The ring is made of metallic materials by cold forming. The ring is formed as a single piece with a projection (9.2) that extends into the ring opening. The pivot is connected with the projection in the free end. An independent claim is also included for an ignition device for airbags or such person protection devices for motor vehicles.
