Method and computer program product for event notification in a workflow management platform

In a clustered workflow management platform wherein each client is able to configure one or more individual task lists by generating a query for each individual task list, clients are notified of an event affecting data as follows:
- in a notification engine data affected by the event are matched with all queries generated by all clients;
- the notification engine selects clients that have generated at least one query that matches with data affected by the event; and
- the notification engine sends notification messages on the event only to clients selected to have at least one query that matches with data affected by the event.
