PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for electrolytically synthesizing ammonia and an apparatus for electrolytically synthesizing ammonia, in which the degree of freedom in the structure and material for an electrode used as an oxygen-producing anode is given when ammonia is electrolytically synthesized from water and nitrogen. SOLUTION: The method for electrolytically synthesizing ammonia includes: (a) a step for preparing an electrolytic bath comprising a molten hydroxide 110 including the hydroxide of molten alkali metal element and/or the hydroxide of alkaline earth metal element; (b) a step for arranging a cathode 140 and an anode 130 in the electrolytic bath; (c) a step for applying, between the cathode 140 and the anode 130, a voltage to obtain an electrical potential for reducing, on the cathode 140, the ions of the alkali metal element and/or the ions of the alkaline earth metal element in the electrolytic bath; (d) a step for generating a nitride by using the alkali metal element and/or the alkaline earth metal element reduced in step (c); and (e) a step for bringing water vapor into contact with the nitride generated in step (d).
