A machine for severing paper webs having spaced lines of cross perforations to provide form lengths comprises a pair of feed-in rollers 12 and a pair of feed-out rollers 9, means for driving the rollers 9 at a higher speed than the rollers 12 and a pair of spaced arcuate guides 8. The guides 8 and rollers 9 are mounted in fixed side plates 11 and the rollers 12 are mounted in plates 13 pivotable about a shaft 14 concentric with the guides 8, the plates 13 having mounted therebetween a cross-bar 15 on which are mounted spring-urged catch bars 16 each engageable in one of a plurality of holes 18 in the side plates 11 according to the form length required. The rollers 9 and 12 are of castellated form and the outer roller of each pair is driven frictionally from the inner roller, the inner rollers being driven from an electric motor 20 by means of belts 21, 23 and 24. A feed wheel 25 is provided for driving the rollers 9 and 12 manually. The rollers 12 are counterbalanced by means 32 which may comprise a torsion spring. A pack of continuous paper webs stationary is fed from a tray 2 by means of guides 3 and 7 and the cut form lengths are stacked in a tray 26 having a guide 27 and pivotally mounted rods 28.
