The method involves positioning a handling device with two flexible non-elastic links (1a) linked by two flexible and non-elastic attaching units (11) on a mass wheel (2), where the links and attaching units permit surrounding of a tire tread mounted on the wheel around 360 degrees such that the links are positioned at a wheel side wall (8). Ends (25, 26) of the links are connected to confine the wheel in the device, and the ends of the links are fastened to a handling bridge hoisting hook (4) integrated to a bridge crane that lifts and moves the wheel. An independent claim is also included for a device for handling a weight wheel from a storage position to mount the mass wheel on a hub of a vehicle.
