PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an aliphatic primary amine alkylene oxide adduct having less discoloration at just after its production and also showing less discoloration even after storing for a long period of time under a high temperature. SOLUTION: This method for producing the aliphatic amine alkylene oxide adduct (B) is characterized by obtaining an aliphatic amine ethylene oxide adduct (A) by reacting (a first stage reaction) 1 mol of a 1C-24C aliphatic amine with ethylene oxide by 1.5 to 2.0 moles of a mean added number of moles in the absence of a catalyst, then reacting (a second stage reaction) the obtained aliphatic amine ethylene oxide adduct (A) with a 2C-4C alkylene oxide by 3 to 100 moles of a mean added number of moles in the presence of 0.01 to 3 wt.% tetramethylammonium hydroxide based on the weight of the (A), then adding hydroxylamine sulfate, thermally decomposing the tetramethylammonium hydroxide at 110 to 170°C and removing thermal decomposed materials under reduced pressure.
