PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable measurement of volume of a log which has already made into lumber, as well as a log during its production process from raw wood, and total up volume of whole logs. SOLUTION: A log production volume totaling device 15A includes a mode selection switch 7 capable of switching between a raw wood measurement mode and a log measurement mode. In the log measurement mode, a cutting part of a cutting device 106 of a working tool 15 is positioned to match a bottom end of a log Q. The log Q is transferred by a material transfer device 107, and an interim tip end diameter D<SB POS="POST">E</SB>' is measured at a position where a tip end of the log Q has reached to one side 15f of the working tool 15, that is, at a length of L' from the bottom end. And a tip end diameter D<SB POS="POST">E</SB>is calculated by estimation from the interim tip end diameter D<SB POS="POST">E</SB>'. Thereby volume of the log Q can be calculated.
