<p>A system for estimating or monitoring the temperature of brake fluid in a hydraulic brake mechanism, the system comprising a controller configured for receiving data related to the temperature of a brake friction element of said hydraulic brake mechanism, such as speed of rotation of the brake rotor, activation of the brake over time, brake pressure applied by the brake mechanism over time, or direct measurement of a brake friction element; and estimating the temperature of said brake fluid based upon said data. The system may provide a warning if the estimated brake fluid temperature exceeds a threshold. They controller may also include an initialise routine, in relation to determining brake fluid temperature after periods of inactivity.</p> |
