A method for cutting a honeycomb molded body being a pillar-shaped honeycomb molded body that is made of a material including silicon carbide, is manufactured by extrusion molding, and has a large number of cells placed in parallel with one another in a longitudinal direction with a cell wall interposed therebetween and a peripheral wall formed on each side face, to a predetermined length in a direction vertical to the longitudinal direction, according to the present invention comprises the steps of: forming a cut guide groove on the periphery of the honeycomb molded body by applying laser in a wavelength range of 0.7 to 2.5 µm; and cutting the honeycomb molded body along the cut guide groove with a wire.
