<p>A faller bar or other comb-like member comprises a synthetic resin moulded about the butt ends of a series of pins and longitudinal reinforcement, the pins and reinforcement being fixed relative to each other only by the resin. The resin may be a glass fibre reinforced nylon possibly with some graphite to provide self-lubrication or a hard grade polythene. The pins may be mounted in a jig before being placed in the mould: the butt end of the pins may be flattened, bent or formed with heads. The reinforcing element may be metallic, e.g. of spring steel and in a preferred form is a U-shaped channel in which the end of the pins are situated: alternatively the insert may be corrugated or ribbed.</p> |
