<p>A seal element 200 is suitable for sealing against fixed and moveable parts of a window or door, and includes a body portion (216, fig 2b) for locating against a parting bead 136 or for locating between first and further parting bead sections. A skirt portion (218, fig 2b) extends from the body portion and the parting bead to reach adjacent parts of the window or door. Preferably, the skirt portion extends from the parting bead to be sandwiched between horizontal sealing strips 124, 126 positioned along the middle rails (106, 114, fig 1b) of two double hung sashes (110, 120, fig 1a). The body portion and skirt portion may be generally planar. A window including a sliding sash and the seal element is also provided. In a further aspect, a method of manufacturing a window includes securing a sealing element in a gap between two portions of parting bead.</p> |
