摘要 The present invention relates to an apparatus for controlling an induction motor applied to a motor driven power steering (MDPS) scheme. The apparatus comprises a command current calculating part for calculating a command current for driving the induction motor; a command voltage calculating part for driving the induction motor by calculating a command voltage corresponding to the calculated command current; an encoder for measuring an angular velocity of the induction motor; a temperature sensor for measuring the temperature of the induction motor; a slip angular velocity calculating part for calculating a slip angular velocity of the induction motor based on the temperature of the induction motor; and an electric angular velocity calculating part for calculating an electric angular velocity based on the angular velocity of the induction motor and the slip angular velocity. According to the invention, when the induction motor is applied to the MDPS, a slip frequency is calculated based on peripheral circumstances and a temperature variation of the induction motor according to an MDPS operation, such that a fine torque control is performed and an MDPS steering sensibility is improved.
