The assembly has a knitting machine (100) comprising a row (101) of parallel needles (102), in which adjacent needles are positioned at a mutual distance (Dn) from each other. A plate is formed with two holes at a distance, where the distance is equal to product of natural number and the mutual distance of the needles. Each of the holes is arranged to receive a respective needle. The parallel needles are directed in a predetermined direction (A) and moved from a non-extended position to an extended position.
