Provided are a remote control device and a method for controlling operation of an electronic device, wherein the remote control device for controlling the operation of the electronic device comprises: a gyro sensor for sensing a movement direction of the remote control device and outputting a motion sensed signal according to each movement direction; a track pad for outputting a touch sensed signal according to a touch of a user′s finger; an input processing part for analyzing the motion sensed signal and the touch sensed signal and generating a command code matched with an operation control in accordance with the motion sensed signal and an operation control in accordance with the touch sensed signal, respectively; and a transmitting part for outputting the remote control signal, including each of the command codes, to the electronic device.
