The die of a punching machine comprises plates 10, 11 having apertures 13, 17, Fig. 3 (not shown), arranged in rows and columns and edge notches 14, 18, Fig. 3 (not shown), in which are received keys 16 formed integrally with cam plates 15 which are held in position by means of combs 19, the tines of which enter the spaces between the plates 15. The plates 10, 11 rest on bars 8 arranged in slots in brackets 6 integral with a base-plate 5. The plate 10 is formed of harder and thinner material than the plate 11. The plates 15 have integral tabs 21 which form lateral spacers. The upper edges of the plates 15 are formed with cam notches 27. Each column of apertures 13, 17 is served by a slidable punch member 22 having a guide slot 23, a positioning slot 24, a punch 25 and a punch guide pin 26. Each member 22 is operable by means of eccentric cams 28. The operation of the machine is described in U.S.A. Specification 3,008,632.</p> |
