Novel antimicrobial peptide from the Abalone，Haliotis discus discus，and uses thereof

PURPOSE: An antimicrobial peptide derived from abalone is provided to show an antimicrobial activity against fish pathogenic microorganisms without harm to human body and fish because the peptide does not have a hemolytic activity in erythrocytes of human and fish. CONSTITUTION: A peptide with an amino acid of sequence number 1 has an antimicrobial activity. The peptide is derived from Haliotis discus. The peptide has an antimicrobial activity against gram positive bacteria and gram negative bacteria. The peptide does not damage erythrocytes of human and fish. A gene encodes the peptide.
