The device (1) has a profile element (2) comprising a base (3) and two lateral walls (4, 5). The base and the walls delimit a housing (8) for receiving a lower edge (9) of a protection panel (10). Another profile element (7) comprises an internal face (11) and an external face (12). The latter profile element is placed in the housing such that the lower edge of the panel is sandwiched between one of the walls and the internal face. The external face is directed towards the other wall. A screw (13) varies a distance between the walls to maintain the lower edge of the panel in the housing. An independent claim is also included for a kit for assembling a railing embedded in a foot.
