A substrate for an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and a method of manufacturing the substrate are provided to prevent light leakage by using light-shielding regions formed through a simplified process and reduce the number of masks. A transparent substrate(101) is located on a stage of a laser apparatus. A laser beam with a predetermined power is irradiated to the transparent substrate to form light-shielding regions(LS) surrounding first, second and third light-transmitting regions(LT1,LT2,LT3). A color filter layer(115) including red, green and blue sub-color filters(115a,115b,115c) respectively located in the first, second and third light-transmitting regions is formed. The boundaries of the red, green and blue sub-color filters respectively correspond to the light-shielding regions. |
