METHOD OF CUTTING TUBULAR MEMBERS AND APPARATUS THEREFOR

A method and apparatus for cutting a polymeric tubular member is provided. The method includes moving the polymeric tubular member (38) along a central longitudinal axis (44) into a position to be cut and providing a cutting blade (24) operably connected to an actuator (22). The method further includes actuating the actuator (22) to move the cutting blade (24) conjointly along a straight linear axis (26). Then, bringing a cutting region (52) of the cutting blade (24) into cutting engagement with the polymeric tubular member (38), with the cutting region (52)engaging the polymeric tubular member (38) extending over a length of the cutting blade (24) that is greater than a diameter of the polymeric tubular member (38).
