METHOD FOR PRODUCING SEMIFINISHED PRODUCT FOR FIBER-REINFORCED PLASTIC

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple continuous method for producing a semifinished product capable of supplying fiber-reinforced plastic stably in large quantity.SOLUTION: A method is provided for producing a thermally deformable semifinished product including thermoplastic fibers and reinforcing fibers. The reinforcing fiber includes: carbon fibers; or carbon fibers and heat-resistant organic fibers. The thermally deformable semifinished product is produced through the following steps (1) to (3) in this order: (1) a step for forming a continuous mat by mixing respective fibers so that the weight ratio of the carbon fibers:the heat resistant organic fiber is 100:0 to 40:60 and the weight ratio of the reinforcing fibers:the thermoplastic fibers is 5:95 to 70:30; (2) a step for forming a mixed nonwoven fabric in which respective fibers are entangled or joined at least at a part by needling, wet papermaking, or a heat treatment; and (3) a step for forming a semifinished product by applying pressure or applying heat and pressure to the mixed nonwoven fabric.
