The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for encoding/decoding images using the filtering of a motion-compensated frame. The present invention provides an image-encoding method which filters a motion-compensated frame generated by estimating and compensating for motion of a current frame of an image, and converting, quantizing, and encoding the residual frame which is a difference between the current frame and the filtered motion-compensated frame. According to the present invention, the motion-compensated frame is filtered to thereby delete more temporal redundancy remaining in the residual frame, thus improving video compression efficiency. |
