Disclosed are a variable compression ratio device and an internal combustion engine using the variable compression ratio device. The variable compression ratio device comprises a main piston which moves back and forth; a main combustion chamber of which the volume is changed by the main piston; a sub-combustion chamber connected to the main combustion chamber; a sub-piston on the sub-combustion chamber to be moved back and forth to change the volume of the sub-combustion chamber; and a sub-piston reciprocating device to reciprocate the sub-piston. Therefore, the variable compression ratio device improves the fuel efficiency and the output of the internal combustion engine.
