FIELD: physics, optics.SUBSTANCE: invention relates to fibre-optics and can be used in making anisotropic single-mode fibre light guides. The method involves making a cylindrical workpiece by MCVD method, which has a core, a low-viscosity tensive cladding and a structural cladding. Two grooves are made at diametrically opposite sides of the workpiece, followed by high-temperature rounding of the workpiece and drawing of the fibre. The structural cladding consists of quartz glass doped with POand/or BOand/or F additives in an amount which enables to lower the compression and rounding temperature by 100-150°C.EFFECT: longer outer diameter of the workpiece, low mass transfer of the quartz glass and high efficiency of the process. |
