PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a depth range calculation apparatus capable of calculating a depth range and a parallax range of a stereoscopic image of a subject by an IP system.SOLUTION: A depth information generation apparatus 1 calculates a depth range and a parallax range of a stereoscopic image by a stereoscopic image photographing device 910 using an integral photography system from an element image group, and includes distance plane image generation means 10 of calculating a distance plane image by a light beam tracking method from the element image group through a virtual element lens group, volume pixel distribution storage means 20 of storing distance plane images for each distance plane as a volume pixel distribution on a three-dimensional space, parallax range calculation means 30 of calculating a difference in angular parallax amount between a near point and a far point of the stereoscopic image of a subject as a parallax range at an observer position, and depth range calculation means 40 of calculating the distance between the observer position and the near point and the distance between the observer position and the far point, and calculating the distance between the distances as a depth range. |
