1,114,651. Moulding tanks. TECHNIGAZ. 13 Aug., 1965 [18 Aug., 1964], No. 34746/65. Heading B5A. A method of manufacturing a heat-insulated tank comprises the winding on a destructible or collapsible mandrel a roving of parallel glass filaments, simultaneously impregnating them with resin which is set to obtain a glass and resin stratified layer, spraying a foamed material on to said layer which sets to form a cellular layer, and finally winding a layer similar to the first on to the cellular layer. The apparatus comprises a mandrel 31 of destructible material, such as plaster, rotated on a lathe, and a 60-filament roving is applied by a distributer 33, to which filaments is supplied an epoxy-type resin by a device 34. A heater 35 for setting the resin is provided, together with devices for spraying the foam and for controlling the various operations.
|
