PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow for continuous synchronous transmission by switching to a new master clock when the master clock is changed, in a synchronous transmission system transmitting in synchronism with the master clock.SOLUTION: A synchronous transmitter of a synchronous transmission system performing synchronous transmission in dependence on a master clock includes a plurality of transmission/reception interfaces (optical interface panels 13-16) for synchronous transmission path, switch panels 10, 11 performing transmission destination route selection, and a clock panel 12 performing selection control of a master clock. The transmission/reception interface includes extraction means and insertion means of clock information including clock priority information being transmitted in the payload of a synchronous transmission format while multiplexing, and a switching protection timer for setting the protection time when switching the master clock. The clock panel 12 has a function for comparing the priority information of clock information extracted by an extraction unit for a plurality of transmission/reception interfaces, and notifying each section in the device of the clock information of highest priority selected. |
