PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently perform reception processing of a large amount of facsimile data or facsimile data from a large number of transmitters regarding facsimile communication.SOLUTION: A facsimile communication system includes: a grid fax network by a plurality of multifunction fax machines; a telephone exchange including a particular destination list and a grid fax list; and a data center to be connected via the Internet, and also includes a data processing device of a user that is registered in the particular destination list and connectable to the Internet. In facsimile communication from a transmitter to a receiver registered in the particular destination list, the telephone exchange selects a multifunction fax machine in the grid fax network and makes it perform proxy reception of transmission fax data regarding fax transmission to the transmission destination registered in the particular destination list, and the multifunction fax machine having performed proxy reception transfers the received facsimile data to the data center via the Internet, and the data center transfers the facsimile data to the data processing device of the transmission target grid fax user via the Internet.
