<p>905,470. Pneumatic tyres. PIRELLI S.p.A. March 26, 1959 [July 29, 1958], No. 10619/59. Class 144 (2). A pneumatic tyre having a carcase 2, 3 constructed as described in Specification 905,469 incorporates a tread reinforcing, flexible, circircumferentially inextensible cincture structure comprising one or more plies 5 or 6 of parallel cords disposed with a cord angle of less than 20 degrees with the mid-circumferential plane of the tyre, and extending axially not greater than the tread width L. Where a single ply cincture is used the cords thereof cross those of the bead to bead carcase ply 2 in the crown portion of the tyre. Where more than one ply is used in the cincture they may be laid with their respective cords either crossing or parallel to each other. The preferred carcass is built from bias cut plies 2, 3 having a cord angle in the range 60-75 degrees which in the shaped carcass will provide a cord angle at the points of maximum width of the tyre section of between 65 and 80 degrees. The cincture is built into the tyre after shaping of the carcase from the flat band. The cincture may be incorporated in a detachable tread of single or multiple ring form.</p> |
