The directional valve (8) has a housing portion (4) provided with an inlet (5) and an outlet (7) which is opened into a surge tank (1). A valve element (10) and a sealing seat portion (9) are arranged in the housing portion. A pressure spring (6) is acted on the valve element. The blocking operation of a directional valve unit is performed based on the screwing of a lid (2) of the surge tank. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a cooling circuit for combustion engine; and (2) a method for controlling cooling circuit.
