PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermosensitive recording medium excellent in blank preservability, whose color developing ability does not deteriorate during long-term preservation in a blank state when using neutral paper as a support.SOLUTION: The thermosensitive recording medium comprises an undercoat layer containing a pigment and a binder on a support and a thermosensitive recording layer containing a leuco dye and a developer on the undercoat layer. The thermosensitive recording medium is characterized in that: the support is neutral paper; and the undercoat layer contains a developer. The undercoat layer preferably contains the same developer as the thermosensitive recording layer. The developer is preferably a specific phenol compound.
