A method of electric arc welding on a surface of metal articles having layers of a higher carbon content includes pre-coating the surface with carbonaceous material, which is applied according to a predetermined law, for example as a screw line or a mesh, joint melting thereof. Grainy or grain-powder cored wire containing carbide grains coated with a conductive substrate is used as a carbonaceous material.
