<p>Embodiments of the invention provide systems and methods for using a mobile money platform to enable users to auction items by broadcasting offer messages over wireless communication networks and receiving back bid messages from other users, and to settle purchase transactions by transferring money between users' mobile money accounts. Embodiments further provide systems and methods for using a mobile money platform to provide an escrow feature for auction transactions. For example, the mobile money platform escrows money from a buyer's mobile money account and, upon receiving the buyer's approval, releases the escrowed money to the seller's mobile money account. The buyer may send such approval upon receiving satisfactory delivery of the items, and the approval may be given by sending an approval message over wireless communication networks to the mobile money platform.</p> |
