PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module that is able to restrict displacements of a pressing plate and an optical fiber and able to facilitate the laying of the optical fiber.SOLUTION: An optical fiber accommodation groove 3 formed in an optical waveguide 4 is formed to accommodate the entire leading end portion of an optical fiber 2 such that the optical fiber 2 does not project from the surface of the optical waveguide 4. Additionally, the optical fiber accommodation grove 3 is formed such that when the leading end portion of the optical fiber 2 is accommodated in the optical fiber accommodation groove 3 and the opening of the optical fiber accommodation groove 3 is covered with a pressing plate 6, a distance by which the leading end portion of the optical fiber 2 is allowed to move in its radial direction is not more than 20 μm. |
