A negative electrode material for a lithium ion battery is provided. More than one of natural crystalline graphite, natural aphanitic graphite and the natural crystallization veined graphite are used as a base, which is coated with non-graphitic carbon material, and the coated microparticle is compounded with a conductive material. A preparing method for the negative electrode material for a lithium ion battery is also provided, which includes the following steps: mixing in liquid phase, drying, carbonizing treating, high-temperature treating, and compounding. The cost of raw material is reduced greatly by using graphite with lower carbon content as raw materials; the preparing technology is simplified and the coating is more compact and more firm by heated-air drying; and by carbonizing and high-temperature treating in lower temperature, energy consumption is reduced so that the product cost is further reduced. |
