A method and an apparatus for rendering 3D graphic data are provided to compare some bits among the bits that mean depth values of pixels corresponding to fragments to be rendered with some bits among the bits that mean the depth values of correspondent pixels so that the depth test for the fragments may promptly be completed. Depth buffers(110) store first bit strings in the bits and are independent from each other, and a depth value reader(120) selects one second bit string among plural second bit strings which are the bits meaning the depth value that the fragments to be rendered indicate, and reads out a first bit string, which corresponds to the second bit string, from one among the depth buffers. A depth test unit(130) compares the most recently selected second bit string with the most recently read first bit string, and generates an update indication signal. A depth writing unit(140) updates the first bit strings by responding to the updates indication signal. |
