The machine has a workpiece comprising two subtables provided with flat table surfaces (18, 25). An axis (20) of a cutting tool and normal (26, 28) of the table surfaces are arranged parallel. A cutting knife (12) is arranged in a region of an end surface (11) of the tool. An end (13) of the knife lies in a plane that is defined by a plane of the table surface of a table part (19). Elements (6-8) are arranged on the end surface facing away from the tool for rotatable mounting of the cutting tool. The workpiece is pushed away through the surface face of the tool. The cutting tool is a circular saw blade.
