The apparatus has a data processing device (3) that is fluidically connected to a pressure vessel (1). The data processing device is connected to an opto-acoustic measuring apparatus (2) in which a sound receiver (21,21') for sound signal reception and a camera for imaging a portion of the pressure vessel are arranged. The sound receiver is spaced apart from one another such that the receiver describes a geometric shape that is adapted to receive a portion of the pressure vessel. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a nondestructive inspection method for a pressure vessel; and (2) a pressure vessel assessment procedures.
