FIELD: physics, computer engineering.SUBSTANCE: invention relates to protection of user information from unauthorised access using a pseudonym and can be used in electronic medical systems. The method and apparatus for generating and authenticating a pseudonym are intended for protecting user information from unauthorised access. The method comprises steps of: determining a set of public parameters and a set of private parameters; receiving a user identifier IDfrom a user device; generating a prime pseudonym based on the determined set of private parameters and the ID; and transmitting the prime pseudonym Pand the set of public parameters to the user device.
