PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a discharge failure from occurring while suppressing a rise of manufacturing costs of a device.SOLUTION: A printer includes: a head for discharging ink; a pump for forcedly supplying ink to the head; a wiper unit for wiping a discharge surface; and a control unit. The control unit includes: a count section for counting a number of conveyed paper sheets; a sheet number storing section for storing a first and a second number of conveyed sheets; and a maintenance control section for controlling the pump and the wiper unit so that maintenance operation is executed when a cumulative number of sheets of the count section reaches the first number of conveyed sheets. When conveyance of paper based on one recording command is completed, the maintenance control section executes the maintenance operation in a case that the cumulative number of sheet of the count section is equal to or more than the second number of conveyed sheets and less than the first number of conveyed sheets. |
