PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce influences on viewers given by images the brightness of which sharply changes.SOLUTION: A display device 10 includes: a display section 1 for displaying images; a periphery light-emitting unit 2 including light sources L1-L6 configured to emit light from the periphery of the display section 1; an antenna 18 (or I/F 12) for inputting images; and an LED control section 16 that, when any image input from an input section includes a scene in which the variation of the brightness per predetermined period of time is larger than a predetermined value, causes the light-emitting unit to emit the light prior to displaying the scene. For example, when an image signal includes a prescription of time information of a scene having a large variation of brightness, the LED control section 16 causes the light-emitting unit to emit the light based on the time information. When no time information is included, the LED control section 16 measures the brightness of an image input from the input section and causes the light-emitting unit to emit the light based on the measured variation of brightness. |
