Provided is a piston ring which is capable of maintaining excellent aluminum adhesion preventing effect for a long period of time in an engine where the temperature in the vicinity of the piston ring is high. The present invention is a piston ring wherein a resin-based film is formed on the upper lateral surface and/or the lower lateral surface of a piston ring base material. This piston ring is characterized in that the resin-based film has a first resin-based film that contains a plate-like filler having an average particle diameter of 2-20μm and an aspect ratio of 20-200 and a second resin-based film that is positioned below the first resin-based film and contains hard particles having an average particle diameter of 0.01-1μm.
