METHOD FOR PRODUCING LARGE STEEL CASTINGS

A method for producing large steel castings, at which a casting mold and a feedhead are filled with metal, as well as thermal insulation of the metal mirror of feedhead by means of periodic introduction of heat-insulating materials. Before filling casting mold with metal the side surface of feedhead is insulated, and after filling - the feedhead metal is heated using exothermic materials, wherein after filling the feedhead for the entire height under the temperature of 1590-1690 °C performed not later that after 30 minutes after heating the metal its additional heating is carried out using exothermic materials.
