PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device having a wire grid type polarizing plate capable of preventing problems from occurring caused from external factors like circumstances.SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device 50 has: a light source 10; a liquid crystal display panel 213; a substrate 101; and plural wires 100 disposed in a strip on the substrate 101. The liquid crystal display device 50 also includes: polarizing plates 211, 214 of a wire grid disposed on at least one side at the light incoming side or the light outgoing side of the liquid crystal display panel 213; a projection lens 23 that projects a beam of light modulated by the liquid crystal display panel 213; a cooling section 25 that supplies wind to cool the liquid crystal display panel 213 and the polarizing plates 211, 214; and a cover wall 102 for covering the end faces of plural wires 100 and the end of plural grooves 108 formed between the plural wires 100 at the upstream side in a flowing direction of the supplied wind from the cooling section 25 in the polarizing plates 211, 214. |
