An objective of the present invention is to provide a cooling device for an external wall of nuclear reactor vessel which smoothly delivers the heat from the external wall to cooling water to improve the cooling efficiency of the external wall of nuclear reactor vessel. The cooling device comprises: a nuclear reactor vessel; a compartment structure for enclosing the external wall of the nuclear reactor vessel with a predetermined distance therebetween; and a nuclear reactor hollow structure having the nuclear reactor vessel and the compartment structure therein, wherein cooling water is supplied inside the nuclear reactor hollow structure in case of a reactor core melting accident to cool the external wall of the nuclear reactor vessel. A cooling water inlet, through which the cooling water is provided to a first space between the nuclear reactor vessel and the compartment structure, is formed at a lower portion of the compartment structure. A cooling water outlet, through which the cooling water is discharged from the first space to a second space between the compartment structure and the nuclear reactor hollow structure, is formed at an upper portion of the compartment structure. A cooling structure, which delivers the heat delivered through the external wall of the nuclear reactor vessel through a heat-transfer surface wider than the external wall of the nuclear reactor vessel, at a lower external side of the nuclear reactor. |
